Growing up, what kind of relationship did you have with money?

I had a healthy relationship with money. My parents made sure I understood the value of money and savings.

What was it like to serve as an SFEPD Student Ambassador teaching your peers about personal finance, and what did you learn about yourself from this experience?

It was an amazing learning experience serving as an SFEPD Student Ambassador. I learned that I am very confident speaking to an audience and what was lacking was the continuous practice. I learned that a lot of students do not have healthy financial habits and they weren’t even aware! I enjoyed the feedback at the end of each presentation.

What are the major benefits of students learning personal finance skills through seminars and classes during their college years?

It equips them with the knowledge to begin healthy financial habits now.

When should students start learning basic concepts about personal finance (in elementary, middle school, high school, or college) and why?

I think students should start in elementary school!

If you could share one financial tip with college students, what would it be?

Don’t wait until you have a job and are earning a paycheck before you think of savings, budgets, and investments. Start now.

As a result of your Student Ambassador experience, what key lessons did you learn to help you manage your money better and is planning for your financial future an important goal after college?

Budgeting really helps. It creates financial discipline. I see planning for my financial future as an important goal after I graduate from college.

How did serving as a Student Ambassador help you prepare for your future and your career goals?

My career goal is to work as a purchasing buyer in a procurement firm and eventually set up my own supply chain consultancy sometime in the future. This program has helped me think more about the financial aspect of things and how to achieve them.
